The Ecological Self
“Care flows naturally if the self is widened…” Arne Naess
Inspired by the living landscapes and animals of southern Saskatchewan, integral education, eco-psychology, and the contemplative & expressive arts, this four-week course is intended as a portal to greater intimacy with self, other & the more-than-human world. The invitation of this course is to deepen into the felt-experience of belonging and re-membering our place in the family of things. Through poetry, readings, discussions, creative and meditative experiential exercises in nature, we’ll explore our innate capacity for presence and connection. Moving away from the idea of a separate self, we’ll cultivate relationship with our inner and outer landscapes, and the mystery that holds it all.

EMBODIED SPIRITUALITY
SELF-DISCOVERY, MINDFUL INQUIRY
SHARED GROUND OF BEING
“Eco” comes from the Greek word oikos, meaning home. Ecology is the study of home, while economics is the management of home. Ecologists attempt to define the conditions and principles that govern life’s ability to flourish through time and change. Societies and our constructs, like economics, must adapt to those fundamentals defined by ecology. The challenge today is to put the “eco” back into economics and every aspect of our lives.”
